Origin
South America but readily grows in Southern
Calif.
Toxic symptoms
Vomiting, diarrhea, slow pulse,
dizziness, collapse, and respiratory failure if the leaves are eaten. However
the flowers of the plant have a very sweet necture contained within and is not
poisonous. This is an excellent example of how plants are able to create very
different compounds in different parts of the plant.
