Artemesia Douglasiana
( California Mugwort, member of the Asteraceae family )
Medicinal Preparation
Tincture:
ARTEMISIA VULGARIS (Common Mugwort, California Mugwort v. douglasiana)
Tincture [1:5, 50% alc.] 10-25 drops.
Acetum Tincture [1:5, in vinegar] as needed externally.
Standard Infusion (drunk hot) for diaphoretic, Cold Infusion as tonic.
Parts Used
Leaves and roots are collected in late summer and dried. The roots are cleaned
in cold water before drying. Leaves are used for ailments of the head and eyes,
the root for stomachic action.

- Volatile Oil
- An acrid resin
- Tannins
Medicinal Uses
- Emmenagogue (promotes menstruation)
- Stimulant and slightly tonic properties
- Nervine (valued in palsy, fits, epileptic and similar affection)
- A diuretic and diaphoretic
Artemesia Douglasiana and Artemesia Vulgaris have similar medicinal uses.
When the plant spirit of each are taken into account Artemesia Douglasiana will
be the stronger healer of the two.
Other
Artemesia Douglasiana is also the main ingredient of dream pillows because of
it's very strong and protective plant spirit.
